Seeing Our Home with Fresh Eyes
One of the most unexpected blessings of taking our home off the market is that we're excited about it again.
For months, every project, every repair, and every room was viewed through the lens of preparing to sell. We found ourselves asking, Would a buyer like this? instead of Would our family enjoy this?
Now that we're staying, that mindset has completely shifted.
Instead of looking around and thinking about the things we'll eventually leave behind, we're dreaming about the possibilities that are right in front of us. It's amazing how quickly a home can feel different simply because your perspective changes.
Lately, we've been talking about adding a pool. It's something we've considered for years, but it never felt like the right time while we were planning a move. Now, we can picture the kids spending their summers swimming, friends gathered on the patio, and evenings by the pool, making memories together.
We're also excited about tackling a few trimwork projects throughout the house. I've always loved the character that thoughtful millwork adds to a home, and there are several spaces that I think could be elevated with a few simple updates.
The best part is that these projects aren't about resale value anymore. They're about creating a home that we love living in every single day.
For a long time, we pressed pause on ideas because we assumed we'd be leaving soon. Now, it feels good to start investing in the home God has already given us instead of waiting for the next one.
Do we still dream about building a homestead one day? Absolutely. That dream hasn't gone away.
But until God opens that door, we're choosing to embrace this season wholeheartedly. We're going to continue making this house feel more like home, creating spaces our family enjoys, and appreciating the life we're building right here.
Sometimes, all it takes is a fresh perspective to fall in love with your home all over again.
