Using Our Gifts for God's Glory

Have you ever stopped to think about why God gave you the specific talents, interests, and abilities you have? Maybe you take a moment now to stop, think, and pray about this.

Whether you're gifted with words, teaching, hospitality, creativity, or working with your hands, I don't believe those gifts were given simply for your own benefit. They were given so you could bless someone else.

"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace." — 1 Peter 4:10 (ESV)

That verse reminds me that our gifts aren't really ours—they're entrusted to us by God to be used well.

For me, one of those gifts is creativity. I love helping someone bring an idea to life, whether it's designing a logo, brainstorming a business idea, decorating a room, or offering a fresh perspective. But creativity isn't limited to design. Sometimes it's baking cookies for a friend who's had a hard week, preparing a meal for a family in need, or creating something meaningful with my children.

None of those things are life-changing on their own, but they can remind someone they're seen, loved, and cared for.

The same is true for every gift God has given us. Your gift may look completely different than mine, and that's exactly how He intended it. Some people encourage, some teach, some build, some organize, and some quietly serve behind the scenes. Every gift has value when it's offered with a willing heart.

Our culture often encourages us to use our talents to build a name for ourselves, but Scripture points us in a different direction. God calls us to use what He's given us to love and serve others.

When we do, even the simplest acts of kindness become opportunities to reflect His goodness. That's one of the most meaningful ways we can glorify Him—with the ordinary gifts He's already placed in our hands.
